The Rouvinez company exploits several
domains, all situated in central Valais. Two of them – Géronde and Crêta-Plan – have
been developed on top of hills which were formed from a mountain pan
in prehistoric times. A thick layer of post-glacial sediment covered
the ground, providing extremely fertile land. These hills, situated
in the middle of the valley floor, are regularly exposed to the breeze
which blows up the Rhone valley each afternoon. This phenomenon is
highly favourable for the ripening of the grapes and for revealing
the aromas.
Two other properties – Lichten and Noble
Contrée – are
situated on the right hand slopes of the valley. Alluvial soils,
with a stony surface, are particularly suited to wine-growing. South-facing
slopes guarantee maximum sunshine hours. |
