Although the exact origin of Humagne Rouge is unknown, it has been found in the valley of Aoste and in Valais for about a century. There is no connection between the Humagne Rouge and the Humagne Blanc varietals. Due to its late ripening, this grape requires a great deal of exposure, thus the terroir of Ardévaz in Leytron is well suited and enables it to develop to its full capacity.
Taste
In the glass it has an intense red colour with a brown sheen. On the nose it contains spicy notes of laurel and tobacco interspersed with tea. A lively robust wine with remarkable tannins. A red wine fit for keeping.
Gastronomic accompaniment
Ideal with game, tasty meat such as grilled beef and lamb and accompagnies strong tasting cheeses marvellously.
